What is camt.053?
camt.053 (Cash Management) is a standardized XML format used by banks in both a national and international context to provide account statements digitally to their customers and enable transparent reporting. These are messages that are used in the bank-customer relationship. In addition to the camt.053 format (daily statement), there are three other camt message formats:
- camt.052: Intraday account statement information (corresponds to SWIFT MT941/942)
- camt.054: Detailed display of collective bookings (corresponds to SWIFT MT900/910)
- camt.056: Use only for communication between banks to recall the transfer system in case of errors and irregular transactions.
The new camt.053 format now replaces the previous MT940 format, which will be discontinued in November 2025. The changeover offers numerous advantages:
