E-invoicing in the USA

In the USA, electronic invoicing is not currently mandatory at either the federal or state level. 2022 initiated the Business Payments Coalition (BPC) a pilot project to develop a virtual network for the exchange of electronic invoices between companies. This led 2023 to the founding of the Digital Business Networks Alliance (DBNAlliance), which monitors the electronic document exchange. The system is based on a Four-corner model, similar to the Peppol network, and enables the secure exchange of e-invoices via so-called access points.
