What is SAP NetWeaver?
SAP NetWeaver is a platform for managing applications developed by SAP and the technical basis for many of SAP's enterprise applications. SAP NetWeaver includes a wide range of technologies related to various areas such as data management, mobility, analytics, application development and integration. It was originally designed as a development platform for developing applications based on SAP. Since then, it has been expanded and now offers a wide range of functions that help companies build a flexible and scalable IT infrastructure, link different systems and thereby create a unified ecosystem.
SAP NetWeaver uses a proprietary database format (SAP HANA) It is a relational database that provides a range of functions that go beyond the tools available in the SAP environment. It also uses a service-oriented architecture (SOA) that allows the integration of both customer-specific developments and running applications.
SAP NetWeaver offers a range of technologies that help companies develop, manage and deploy applications. These include: Supply Chain Management (SCM) , Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) In addition, NetWeaver also provides a modeling and development tool to create applications that can run on platforms. These tools enable companies to consolidate their IT infrastructure and make it more efficient.
SAP NetWeaver was mainly developed with the ABAP programming language but also uses C, C++ and Java. It can be extended with Microsoft .NET, Java EE and IBM WebSphere software platforms. By using web services, SAP NetWeaver can be used as an application builder for the integration of business processes and databases from different sources. With SAP NetWeaver products, business users can access SAP software in real time from anywhere - be it via social networks or collaboration platforms, mobile devices or web applications.
Part of SAP NetWeaver is the SAP NetWeaver Application Server. It forms the basis for most SAP products. It is divided into ABAP and Jakarta EE application servers and can be installed individually or together. In an integrated installation, the Java stack uses the user management of the ABAP stack and communication connections are automatically created between the stacks, called Java Connector (JCo).
